Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect after reaching out to Randy Trevino College Consulting online?

Randy will do his best to reach out to you within 24 hours to address any of your needs.

How do your rates compare to other college consultants?

RTCC package prices are below the national average rate for independent college consultants. Additionally, Randy’s expertise offers more value than other college consultants due to his experience on both the college admissions side as well as the high school counseling side.  The “both sides of the desk” experience is unusual, and provides a more firm understanding of the college admissions process. Randy knows what colleges are looking for, and as a former high school college counselor, he knows how to advise and deliver.

How does this service differ from what a high school counselor provides?

Randy is accessible in more personal and private settings.  School counselors typically carry a heavy caseload and cannot focus solely on college preparation and advising.  They simply cannot dedicate the personal service level that the college admission process needs due to number volume, no matter their experience level or service dedication.  Randy is available to meet one-on-one in your desired setting to meet your particular needs with expertise, experience, detail, and genuine care.

When should a current student or parent consider reaching out to Randy for help with college?

There is no time that’s too early for college preparation.  Randy has worked with a number of 8th graders in the past, for example, so as to guide and prepare an incoming high school student for the high-level expectation that colleges deem necessary.  He has extensive experience with grades 8-12 (most especially 12th grade!) and can tailor a plan specific to a student’s particular grade level.

Do parents/guardians need to be involved in the process?

While the student will do the work, parents are definitely welcome to be part of the process.  Randy aims to be as much a part of the process that parents need or allow so as to remove the family stress in the college process. Think of the college admission process as a long road trip.  In this instance, the student is the driver, the parents are the passengers who paid for the car and gas, and Randy is the navigator who helps you arrive at your destination.

I’ve graduated. Is it too late to get college consultation?

No, Randy can help in any situation!

I’m considering transferring to a new college. Can RTCC help?

Absolutely!  Randy has extensive transfer admissions experience, especially if you’re a prospective student from a 2-yr institution (such as Collin College) looking to transfer to a 4-yr college/university.  He can tailor a specific course schedule and provide other very useful guidance to help you take the next transfer step!

When is Randy available to meet?

Randy is available to meet with students and/or parents Monday-Friday from early afternoon to late evenings.  Weekend meetings can also be coordinated as necessary. In select instances, Randy can also be available during the day or by general appointment if necessary.  Contact him for more information.

Does Randy give community presentations or speak publicly?

Yes, Randy has extensive experience speaking to varied audiences for the college process.  See his contact information if you or your organization is interested in having Randy come speak at one of your events.
